PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
2008-2009

 

PLAYGROUP (2'S) 
The playgroup class is a great introduction to a group experience for your child. Under the supervision of warm, caring and educated teachers, your child will participate in arts & crafts, music & movement, outdoor play, sensory stimulation and dramatic play. Jewish heritage and the celebration of Shabbat on Fridays, are an important part of our program. Concepts, such as colors, shapes, numbers and letters will be incorporated into the program through songs, stories, and in circle time games.

Classes meet as follows:

Tuesday & Thursday: 9:00-12:30

Monday, Wednesday, & Friday: 9:00-12:30

Monday-Friday: 9:00-12:30

*Extended day until  3:00 available every day.

 

THREE YEAR OLDS
The children will explore their world, experiment, stretch and grow, all with the encouragement of creative, dedicated teachers. They will begin to recognize letters, to count, and to identify shapes and colors. The ground work for future writing is begun with the Pre School Handwriting Without Tears Program. The classroom is full of enriching activities that foster cooperation, sharing, taking turns and compassion. This class includes a weekly swim, music, and creative movement lesson.

Monday, Wednesday, & Friday: 9:00-12:30

Tuesday and Thursday 9:00- 12:30

Monday-Friday: 9:00-12:30

*Extended day until 3:00 available every day.

 


PRE-K
Children will begin the year in primarily child directed activities and move into teacher directed activities as the year unfolds. Letter identification, pre-literacy skills, and math concepts are introduced. Pre-K students will be involved in the next level of the Pre School Handwriting Without Tears program which focuses on the shapes of letters and activities which strengthen the hand for writing readiness. Teacher directed activities build listening skills and help develop the focus that will be needed for Kindergarten success. This program includes a weekly swim lessons and offers additional enrichment classes which may include gym, music, creative movement, and Hebrew. Children may participate in either the morning or full day program. There is some flexibility to build a full day program to your needs.

Monday-Friday: 9:00-3:00

*Extended day until 3:00 available everyday

 

KINDERGARTEN

The children work in a hands-on environment with a balanced curriculum focusing on Language Arts, Literature, Math, Science and Social Studies. They are continuously challenged and stimulated to learn in an enriched and inviting classroom. The Handwriting Without Tears Program continues. Kindergarten includes a weekly swim lesson, and offers additional enrichment classes such as Hebrew, music, creative movement, and gym.

Monday-Friday: 8:45-3:00

*Students living in Arlington, Spackenkill, Wappinger Falls and Hyde Park School Districts are eligible for district transportation to and from our Kindergarten program( parents must apply at the home school district by April 1st of the previous year).

 

KINDERGARTEN PLUS

Does your child attend Kindergarten only until 11:00AM or doesn't begin until 12:30PM? The JCCDC is offering a kindergarten enrichment that will lengthen your child's school day. Your child can spend the morning with us and then head off to public school kindergarten or your child can start their day at public school and then finish the day at the JCCDC. Which ever the case, your child is sure to benefit.

Monday-Friday: Morning or Afternoon
